THE BIG MOWER COMPANY JOINS THE FARMTRAC DEALER FAMILY

26th September 2022

Farmtrac has welcomed another sales, service and parts dealer for professional groundscare machinery to its steadily growing UK network: The Big Mower Company, which covers all of Oxfordshire, North Berkshire and Buckinghamshire.

The Big Mower Company is Farmtrac’s latest dealer to join its steadily growing UK network. Pictured are The Big Mower Company’s managing director Peter Bullock, right, and Reesink’s Steven Haynes.

Despite a packed diary, Peter and the team will also be making time to hit the road and promote their new addition of Farmtrac: “We’ll be attending the Bucks County Show, a local agriculture show, in September and will be bringing our Farmtrac stock along to, hopefully, create a bit of buzz,” Peter explains.

“Farmtrac as a brand is very well-made and presented, it has all the EU specifications and is very sensibly priced. It’s the whole package: from the colour to the type of engines used, the design, it all fits the bill for the price, so I think it’ll do very well as the name gets out more and more.”

The Big Mower Company serves a varied customer base of golf courses, estates, houses, local authority contractors, tree surgeons, general professional equipment users and a small proportion of the public. Already with some Farmtrac stock available for sale, managing director Peter Bullock has some predictions as to what his customers might flock to the most:

“It’s early days but I think our best seller will probably be the hydrostatic 26hp tractors,” he says. “I’ve got a few demos scheduled in and a few more piled up. I want to get some units of the FT25G all-electric tractor too – I’m very curious to see our buyers’ reaction to it since it seems to be very popular everywhere else. It’s an interesting machine that will absolutely take over the market in the future, if given the chance.”

“We are pleased to have The Big Mower Company on board as a dealer. The company is well-known in their area for good sales and customer service support with the other product lines that they carry, and I am sure that Farmtrac will be a positive addition to this.”

As a seasoned dealer, Peter also has a few tips for those starting out, which he believes have been instrumental in his success: “Be honest. Turn up when you say you will. If a customer asks for your help, solve the problem as quickly as you can, and they’ll want to come back to you and spread the word. Call them before they call you so you’re not on the back foot when they do want you.

“I think that’s helped us stay successful,” he continues. “If you ring me in the morning, you’ll see someone in the afternoon, and if you ring me in the afternoon, you’ll have someone with you first thing in the morning. Timing is key in business.”

The Big Mower Company’s beginnings trace back to 2001 when Peter decided to put many years of industry experience to the test by opening his own business. Working alongside his accountant wife and three technicians, Peter is no stranger to Reesink, with whom he became involved with many years ago.

“I first became a service dealer for Toro, a brand exclusively distributed by Reesink in the UK, around 10 years ago,” he explains. “I heard about the brand through a friend who used to be a service technician at Reesink. Then, just last year, when I heard about Reesink distributing Farmtrac, I did some research, went through the application process and was accepted. It was as easy as that.”
